Kitchen table + chairs update
I'm so excited to have my blog up and running (FINALLY)!
I know I shared a sneak peek of our kitchen nook transformation on Instagram (@housetohome_design), and now I'm sharing the whole project from start to finish.
Let's be honest..buying new furniture is expensive! Sometimes it's necessary, but in this case I just needed to be a little creative for updating this piece of furniture in our kitchen nook. I also loved the size and style of our current kitchen table and chairs and wanted to do something with it to give it a fresh look.
I've heard a lot about chalk paint from others and even got a little bit of a chalk paint 101 lesson from a Home Depot rep (thanks, guy!). What's great about chalk paint is that it doesn't require sanding or priming. Faster process? Sure, sounds good to me! Chalk paint offers a more matte-like finish, so keep that in mind and if that's the look you are going for or not.
Now the downside to chalk paint..it's pretty pricey. And you want to make sure you get a "decent" brand of chalk paint. Of course Annie Sloan is top quality, but I tried out Rust-oleum Chalked from Home Depot. I wanted more of a farmhouse look for the table that would match well with the wood color, so I got it in linen white. It comes in other colors (really want to try to the grey one on something).
There are tutorials out there for making your own chalk paint, which I may try one day and if I get to that I will definitely share. But for now, I was just ready to chalk paint away with this table and I'm thrilled with how it turned out!
Have a piece of furniture you've been thinking about refreshing? Give this a try! It's super easy, fast and can really transform your piece!
