Transitioning to the holidays

Halloween is over with, Fall is underway and the holidays are right around the corner. During this time period, people tend to ask questions on if it's too early to start decorating for Christmas, or how to keep fall decor in the home while transitioning to the holidays.

Here are some tips I recommend to keep the warmth of fall in the home, but begin incorporating winter + holiday touches.

Add "winter" greenery, such as eucalyptus

Eucalyptus is one of my favorite types of greenery to use during this time of year. It provides that soft green hue, perfect for the holiday time. Add eucalyptus in garland, in a vase or as part of a tablescape for Thanksgiving (that can then be used for other holiday dinner parties).

Keep the pumpkins, but chose the neutral ones

I like to use white mini pumpkins till Thanksgiving, especially in a tablescape. Another way you could style these are on a shelf or in a bowl/basket. It still gives that "fall" vibe and works well with other holiday decor.

Bring in brass accents

I love the look of brass decor with holiday decor and winter greenery. I've always been hesitant about using brass in our home since we don't have any brass, however this year I'm playing around with mixing metals and I am LOVING how it has turned out so far. Don't be afraid to mix metals. One tip though is if you plan on using brass, make sure you tie it in in areas throughout your home. For example, if you have brass candlesticks or a lantern near your fireplace, add brass ornaments on your tree or a frame on a built-in.
